Conservative commentator Benny Johnson posted a viral video where he temporarily offered gas at Trump-era prices at a gas station in Tampa, Florida.

Johnson set the price at $1.84 per gallon, reflecting the lowest national average gas price under the Trump administration. Pumps hit that low number in April 2020, per the US Department of Energy. A sign outside the gas station read, "Trump gas prices here," and drew in long lines of locals, many of whom had been affected by the recent hurricanes.

The event gave people a chance to fill up their vehicles at the reduced rate, with many voicing their support for former President Donald Trump as they waited in line. Johnson also offered to pay for the entire tank of some vehicles free of charge.

“Make gas cheap again,” multiple people told Johnson as an endorsement for Trump, with another woman adding, “Make everything cheap again. Not just gas, everything.”

“If it’s a Trump price, I’m all for it!” another man said as he reacted to the reduced prices.

A mechanic shared his story of how Trump's policies gave him the opportunity to succeed in his work. When asked what they would like to say to Trump, another woman responded bluntly, “Save us.”

The Trump campaign has pledged to lower energy prices should the former president secure another term in the White House. Trump has routinely echoed the popular phrase, “drill, baby, drill,” indicating that under his leadership the US would work to significantly increase its oil supply and become energy independent.

"We have more energy — we have more liquid gold, as I call it, under our feet than Saudi Arabia, than Russia, than anybody," Trump said in a Fox News interview in August. "We're going to be energy-dominant, we're going to make a fortune, we're going to supply it all over Europe, all over the world. We're going to be double and triple what they're doing. We're going to have tremendous energy, and we're going to lower our prices of energy."
