"She can't even deliver on promises to her own followers with a Beyonce Performance."
While addressing the crowd, Beyonce primarily highlighted the issue of abortion and urged Texans to support Harris in order to give women “freedom to control our bodies." The celebrity added, “I'm not here as a celebrity. I'm not here as a politician. I'm here as a mother, a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in."
"It’s time for America to sing a new song. Our voices sing a chorus of unity. They sing a song of dignity and opportunity. Are y’all ready to add your voice to the new American song?" she added.
Following her speech, Beyonce introduced Harris, who took the stage to the sound of Beyonce's own song "Freedom"— which has become an anthem for Harris’s campaign, per the Daily Mail. On social media, however, anger was palpable after she left without a performance, per the outlet.
"Bait and switch crowd building," one user posted. "Promised a performance to bring people in and they went streaming to the exits when Beyonce left the stage."
Another social media user stated, "She can't even deliver on promises to her own followers with a Beyonce Performance, but yes she will totally close the border and stuff. Kamala Harris is a mess." Many attendees were expecting a performance from Beyonce, but their hopes did not materialize.
When her appearance at the rally was first announced, many were under the impression that she would be performing. Over 1.5 million individuals attempted to register to attend the event when it was first announced, according to Newsweek. But despite the event being at a later time that would be more fitting for a concert rather than a political event, and attendees filling the venue donning LED bracelets reminiscent of a concert, Beyonce did not perform, focusing instead on her endorsement for Harris.
