On Friday morning, immigration services were once again overwhelmed at the Texas border, as the queue for processing extends now to the thousands.

As of the time of the writing of this article, more than 1000 immigrants are still waiting to be processed from the day before, and Friday morning alone saw another 1000 desperate people cross the Rio Grande.

There are currently more than 4500 unaccompanied minors being held in these facilities, some in cells, others in makeshift tent cities hastily erected along the border. This represents a new record, although many mainstream outlets are avoiding the topic.

Because of the above, ICE is considering flying unprocessed immigrants to facilities with spare capacity at the Canadian border. In fact, they have done exactly this before in 2019, when they had similar problems (but of a lesser magnitude).

Another difference between 2019 and 2021 is that at that time, the border surge was during the summer months, and many of these families aren't clothed properly for, say, the weather this time of the year in Montana.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is already on the scene at El Paso, and President Joe Biden is on the way in Air Force One to survey the crisis first-hand.

No determination has been made yet as to which of the northern immigration facilities would be receiving the people crossing over from Mexico.
