As former President Donald Trump has visited with foreign officials recently, President Joe Biden and his team have taken notice, and have become annoyed with the various meetings his opponent has had.

According to NBC News, in the last couple months, Trump has hosted Poland's President Andrzej Duda as well as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and several others. Many of these meetings have taken place in New York. Trump also got to meet with former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso and former British Prime Minister David Cameron. It has apparently irritated Biden that his opponent has spent time talking to the world leaders.

Allies in the Biden camp have taken issue with the image of the incumbent president's opposition meeting with the leaders of other countries as presidential candidates typically meet with lower-level officials instead of leaders themselves to talk about policy.

One close associate of Biden told the outlet, "On the official side, it might be helpful," referring to Trump hearing from European allies who advocated for the Ukraine aid bill that passed last month.

"On the political side, it’s annoying to see it happen because [Trump] tries to capitalize," the ally of the incumbent president complained.

Allies of President Trump, on the other hand, have liked that the meetings give Trump an edge in creating credibility for his potential election win. "At some level,” one Trump staffer commented, “they believe [Trump] can win — will win.”

Spokesman for the Trump campaign Brian Hughes said that world leaders have the opportunity to take stock of what Trump is like versus Biden with the meetings.

“Foreign leaders and others are paying attention to this election for a number of reasons,” Hughes said. “One is primarily that our president on the world stage has been diminished."
