"Well. Let's see how this goes. Converts welcome!"
The social media platform, founded by former president Donald Trump, has a "MAGA"-heavy user base, a voting block that the current commander-in-chief has only failed to successfully court, but in some cases has actively demonized.
"There's very little 'truth' happening on TruthSocial, but at least now it'll be a little fun," the Biden campaign told Fox News, explaining that it hoped by making an account, it could counter some of the alleged "mis and disinformation" about the president on the platform.
By joining, the campaign will be able to immerse itself in an ecosystem made up almost entirely of those who identify as right-wing at a time when the GOP appears to be internally struggling to come to a consensus.
"Republicans can't even agree on a Speaker of the House, so clearly, not every Republican thinks the same," a spokesperson for the Democratic frontrunner said.
Shortly after 1:30pm EST, @BidenHQ sent out its first "Truth," which read, simply, "Well. Let's see how this goes. Converts welcome!"
The post has received far more comments than likes or "reTruths."
Since then, it has followed up with a series of clips featuring Republican presidential candidates Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, as well as a Fox News segment.
Truth Social was created after Trump was banned from Twitter in the aftermath of the January 6 riots in 2021, and launched in February the following year. In the time since, he has used the platform to post his thoughts on current events, share campaign material, and issue official statements.
According to SearchLogistics, there are an estimated 2 million active users.
