The Biden-Harris HQ campaign account misrepresented former President Donald Trump’s recently announced stance on abortion.

The account claimed that Trump supports “extreme abortion bans across the country that criminalize doctors, threaten IVF, and force rape victims to give birth.” The account also posted a nine-second video of the former President explaining how states will have different laws regarding abortion.

However, the former President did not say he supports any of these things in his recent announcement. A community note was proposed on the viral post as of early afternoon on Monday.

On Monday morning, Trump released a longer video outlining his beliefs on IVF and abortion. The GOP nominee for President started by saying, “The Republican Party will always support the creation of strong, thriving, and healthy American families.”

Trump went on to express his support for IVF treatment, which has recently faced legal challenges in the state of Alabama

While Trump called the left-wing stance on abortion that legalizes late-term abortions “unacceptable,” the former President primarily emphasized that the issue of abortion should be left up to the states.

“Many states will be different. Many will have a different number of weeks… at the end of the day this is about the will of the people,” Trump said.

He also thanked the six Supreme Court Justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, returning the debate on abortion to the states.

In regard to his personal beliefs on abortion, Trump cited the “Reagan exceptions” and stated that he is strongly in favor of exceptions for “rape, incest, and life of the mother" in contrast to the post from the Biden campaign.
