Biden demands Canada secure northern border while allowing chaos to reign in the south

President Joe Biden has solved the northern border "crisis" with a brief meeting and a handshake.

Biden was in Ottawa Friday on an official visit to Canada to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Despite the age difference that manifests itself in increasing dementia for Biden and youthful insouciance for Trudeau, the two leaders are aligned on political traits and hypocrisy.

Just as Biden, former friend to segregationist legislators, loves to brand advocates of election reform as Jim Crow proponents, Trudeau, a career blackface performer, enjoys smearing his political opponents as racist as well.

Yet the two were determined to solve "irregular migration" at their shared border.

And it was so simple!

They just showed a little imagination in redefining the US-Canada Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA) so that the entire 4,500-mile border between the US and Canada can be considered one long official border crossing and illegals can be sent back to where they came from.

Canada has also agreed to accept 15,000 migrants from the "Western Hemisphere."

Who knew it could be so easy?

As the website for Canada's Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada describes it, "The STCA continues to be in effect. Individuals entering Canada at a land port of entry continue to be ineligible to make a refugee claim, and will be returned to the U.S. unless they meet one of the relevant exceptions under the STCA."

The agreement was always mired in bureaucratic idiocy and has done nothing but encourage illegal immigration because these so-called "asylum seekers" have a much better chance of staying in Canada if they break the law.

In Canada, illegals have chosen Roxham Road as their favorite spot to enter Canada, a location about 20 miles south of Montreal that straddles the border between Quebec and New York. Recently, people trying to enter the United States have increasingly tried to come through New York and Vermont – though the numbers are nothing when compared to what the United States continues to experience at the southern border with Mexico.

It hasn't actually been a crisis at the northern border. But it remains an existential crisis at the southern border. So why can't Biden visit Mexico and do the same thing? Has it even occurred to him or his handlers, or does he really not want to find a solution?

Biden described the situation at the southern border as "a crisis" once in April 2021. Yet the Biden administration has allowed illegal immigrants to enter the US through Texas, Arizona and California—and they shy away from using that term now.

The number of illegal crossers has surpassed 1.2 million illegal refugees, whom US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) term as "gotaways," meaning that they were not apprehended by border agents.

Border Patrol encountered two million illegal immigrants at the border in 2021.

Yet the hapless and incompetent Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas has continued to appear before Congress and falsify reality. He is either too grossly incompetent to comprehend the extent of the problem, or an habitual liar who has become nothing more than a mouthpiece for the disastrous status quo.

Mayorkas had the conscienceless gall to tell Congress that the "border is secure."

Meanwhile, it was Mayorkas, in the early days of the Biden presidency, who spoke from the White House briefing room to tell migrants that the administration wasn't saying "don't come," they were saying "don't come now." Meanwhile, caravans of those seeking to enter the US illegally began to form in Central and South America.

The southern border has become a conduit for human suffering, with sex trafficking, terrorists and the most massive influx of lethal drugs in American history surging into the US. Biden has done nothing to stem the flow, not even suggested there might be a solution in a negotiated agreement with Mexico.

Instead, he redirected $2 billion in border wall funding to the Department of Defense – as if the border didn't need to be defended first.

Then he allowed illegal immigrants access to the United States, giving them free phones, social services, and instructions to check in at some later point.

Biden began his presidency by inviting illegals to come to America and in so doing was aping the words of Trudeau— who also created his own border crisis by telling the world that Canada's borders were open to anyone.

"To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada," he tweeted on Jan. 28, 2017.

Hundreds of thousands of people took Trudeau at his word—just like millions would Biden years later— and headed for the Canadian border, expecting to be greeted with open arms and to bypass Canada's legal refugee system all because the prime minister had sent out his personal invitation.

That invitation sparked a massive flow of illegal immigrants. By the fall of 2018, the situation had become a "border crisis," as described by then Conservative immigration critic MP Michelle Rempel (CPC-Calgary-Nosehill).

Then so-called Border Security Minister Bill Blair denied there was any crisis— just like Mayorkas routinely does— but did take steps to put thousands of illegals into three-star hotels in Toronto and Ottawa. Similar plans are currently being enacted in New York, Los Angeles, and other high-density US cities.

I called Blair the "open borders minister" at the time because that's exactly what he was.

The illegals filled up all of the homeless shelters and university dorms and then had to be housed elsewhere.

All the while they were receiving federal government largesse that included Medicare and access to immigration lawyers who could argue the "irregular crossers" should stay in Canada.

Similar problems are plaguing New York, and while Mayor Eric Adams, who must adhere to a "right to shelter law" in that city, has asked for more federal funding, he has stopped short of blaming Biden for the humanitarian disaster unfolding in his city.

Trudeau can ill-afford another border crisis. He is knee-deep in the China election interference scandal that is growing worse for him every day. He lost a Toronto-area MP this week after reports alleged Han Dong (Lib.-Don Valley North) had actually discouraged China from releasing two Canadians imprisoned in that country.

Biden's popularity continues to plummet and perhaps he is realizing that one of the reasons for this is his criminal negligence of the southern border. He is clearly inept or following a game plan— as some American conservatives attest only to be derided as racist— to flood the United States with grateful illegal immigrants who will presumably vote Democrat.

Biden has demonstrated the ease with which border bureaucracy can be undone and improved, he has also shown that he could solve the southern border crisis if he really wanted to.
