President Joe Biden delivered remarks on Tuesday regarding the United States' COVID-19 response and the vaccination program. As he ended his short speech, he answered only one question from the press which was in regards to the latest ransomware attack.

One reporter asks Biden, "on the latest ransomware attack, can you tell us if you believe that rises to the level of US retaliation?"

Biden then appears to reopen his notes before answering.

"I can tell you a couple of things. I received an update from a national security team this morning. It appears to have caused minimal damage to US businesses but we're still gathering information to the full extent of the attack and I’m going to have more to say about this in the next several days," said Biden.

"We're getting more detail and information, but that's what I can tell you now, and I feel good about our ability to…" said Biden, before finishing with something indecipherable and walking off the stage.

The United States in recent months has fallen victim to numerous ransomware attack, the two most notable occurring in March with the attacks on the Colonial Pipeline, which caused widespread gas shortages across the south, and another attack on the world’s largest meatpacker.
