President Joe Biden will skip the press conference at the "Three Amigos" summit between the leaders of Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
The press conference has been a tradition of this summit. Prime Minister Trudeau has confirmed he will be doing a solo press conference, according to CBS News.
In all eight summits held since it was created, there has been a press conference between the three leaders. Biden, then, is the first leader to break this.
As a result of this, Biden may be sheltered from nearly every question that may arise over the course of the summit.
Last week, the White House's press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that she expected a press conference to take place. The Presidential agenda for this week, however, shows no press conferences.
Biden has often been criticized for not taking questions, particularly on the international stage. Earlier this year, journalists were suddenly ordered to leave before Biden could answer a question during a meeting with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The Three Amigos summit is known for tough questions. This was particularly the case during the Trump presidency, where leaders had to respond to tariffs and his "America first" policies.
Border regulations are expected to be on the agenda for this week's conference between the leaders of Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
