Biden sends Education Secretary who funds anti-Israel college courses to deal with antisemitism on campuses

Anti-Israel sentiment mixed with blatant anti-semitism has had a field day on college and high school campuses across the US in the wake of the gruesome October 7 terror attacks on Israel. In a bizarre turn-about, the people who were attacked, Jewish Israelis, are the ones being criticised and blamed for that attack by American students.

University of Washington, Harvard, Cornell, Tulane, George Washington, NYU, Columbia, Cooper Union, and so many other campuses have seen insanely crazed vitriol against Jewish students. Now, the Biden administration has decided to address it, and they're sending VP Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, who doesn't know what a woman is, to handle it. Cardona, however, was warned by senators in March of concerns of rising antisemitism.

That's how Americans can know Biden means business on anti-semitism. In addition to send the second gentleman and Cardona, DHS is working with campus law enforcement to "track hate-related rhetoric online and provide federal resources to schools," NBC reports exclusively.

Yet in March, several senators had reached out to Cardona to ask him to address the rising anti-semitism on campuses, blaming Cardona, and the Department of Education, for allowing the sentiment to run rampant. Funding for Islamic studies programs ended up with courses disproportionately blaming Israel for being hated in the region, and boosted the idea that Israel is a mighty "colonizer" implementing oppression on Muslims and Arabs. This despite the fact that Israel has been the subject of repeated, existential attacks for nearly 100 years.

"We write with grave concern that the Department of Education, over the course of decades, has been allowing taxpayer-funded antisemitism to take place on college campuses throughout the United States," the senators said.

"We are especially concerned the Department of Education is failing to enforce a Higher Education Act (HEA), Title VI requirement that college programs that receive federal funds must 'reflect diverse perspectives and a wide range of views.' Unfortunately, many Near East and Middle East programs are failing to meet this requirement and base a disproportionate amount of their curriculum on criticizing Israel," they continued.

"The obsessive negative focus on Israel and the Jewish people is rampant on college campuses throughout the United States. For example, an investigation found UCLA’s Center for Near East Studies focused the majority of its public outreach activities on Israel. From 2010 to 2013, 93 percent of Israel-related public events sponsored by the program displayed bias against Israel, more than a quarter of public events supposed to be focused on the broader Middle East instead focused on Israel, and over 60 percent of events supposed to be focused on political conflicts in the Middle East only discussed the Arab-Israeli conflict," they said.

The Department of Education did not take action at the time, though the senators noted that "Some universities may have even violated anti-terrorism laws by hosting convicted terrorists as speakers." These included "Leila Khaled, who had been convicted of hijacking two planes full of Israeli civilians, and she is an unrepentant member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a U.S.-designated terror group that has murdered Americans."

Emhoff and Cardona will be meeting with Jewish groups to talk about the hate directed at Jewish students on campuses. The White House emphasized, as well, that the Department of Education will revamp its complaint form. The new form, which can be filed when there is a campus concern, will show that "certain forms of antisemitism and islamophobia" are prohibited, per the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

White House staffer Neera Tanden, who spoke against restrictions against terrorist-leaning Muslims in 2015 while with the Center for American Progress, saying "It is inconceivable that we as a diverse nation would consider shuttering houses of worship and dangerously singling out our fellow citizens," will join Cadona on campuses. Tanden and Cardona will hold a roundtable with Jewish students.

Tanden's comments came after Trump had endorsed the serious slow down and restriction on refugees from Syria and Iraq from coming to the US in the wake of an Islamic terror attack on Paris that killed more than 130, injuring hundreds. Trump had advocated for the closing of mosques where "bad things were happening." Trump said "Nobody wants to say this and nobody wants to shut down religious institutions or anything, but you know, you understand it. A lot of people understand it. We’re going to have no choice."

Trump has said that were he to win the upcoming presidential race, there would be absolutely no admittance of Palestinian refugees into the United States.
