The 5 sued were pro-life activists Calvin Zastrow, Kenneth Scott, Chester Gallagher, Eva Zastrow, and Katelyn Sims.
Joe Biden's Department of Justice (DOJ) has sued five pro-life activists for attempting to stop abortions from taking place at a clinic in Fort Myers Florida under FACE Act violations. The DOJ stated that it "alleges that the defendants trespassed onto a reproductive health center’s property, blocked the entrances and temporarily stopped operations at the center."
The five pro-life activists being sued by the DOJ include Calvin Zastrow, Kenneth Scott, Chester Gallagher, Eva Zastrow, and Katelyn Sims.
In a press release from the DOJ, Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division stated, "These five defendants deliberately obstructed access to reproductive health services."
“Physically blocking those seeking or providing reproductive health services in order to impose their views is unlawful. The Justice Department will continue enforcing the FACE Act to protect against such obstruction," she added.
According to the lawsuit, the five activists were protesting next to the property of the Fort Myers Health Center, which has a Planned Parenthood inside. They protested against abortion and yelled at a Planned Parenthood employee that she was killing babies. They walked onto the property and despite police warnings "sat in front of the front door of the Fort Myers Health Center" in an attempt to stop abortions from happening. While they sat in front of the door, a patient arrived and they attempted to close the door but the abortion clinic employees were able to allow the patient into the clinic.
The lawsuit is another instance in a pattern of the Biden DOJ prosecuting or going after pro-life activists over FACE act violations.
