Biden's immigration agents 'sanitized' El Paso streets before 'border czar' Kamala's only visit in 2021: report

"They did a cleanup on the streets from all the people that they were releasing that were staying on the streets of downtown," one agent said.

It has been revealed that during "border czar" Kamala Harris' visit to El Paso, Texas on June 25, 2021, Customs and Border Patrol agents were asked to tidy up the area for the cameras. Sources familiar with the matter told the New York Post that in preparation for what would end up being the vice president's only trip to the southern border during her term, they "sanitized" the streets, ensuring everything looked as orderly as possible.

Agents said that in order to prevent people from seeing illegal immigrants sleeping on the sidewalk, a number of hotels were rented out to house them, but only briefly. Additionally, steps were taken to show that those in detention centers were presentable. Biden named Harris the border czar in March 2021. Her office claimed that wasn't her job.

"They did a cleanup on the streets from all the people that they were releasing that were staying on the streets of downtown," one agent told the Post, with another adding, "We sanitized all the aliens out of there to make it look good."

A third explained that once the hotels were rented, they "spent hours moving out bodies." They noted that agents were asked to braid the hair of the girls who remained in the centers. Prior to Harris' arrival, they joked that "the building was more secure than the whole border was."

A former official who was in town during the vice president's visit said she "had zero interest in really seeing anything," calling the whole thing "rushed."

Harris' decision to head down to Texas came only after intense pressure from Republicans and even some Democrats along the border. When asked why she hadn't been, she deflected and said her job was to tackle the "root causes."

When she arrived, protestors were waiting with a strong message. "You came a little too late," one said. "We have had this crisis for years. We need solutions. We don't need you parading in the border patrol station or acting like you care."

Harris' trip is still a point of criticism for many on the right. Just this week, Donald Trump took aim at her for it.

"She visited the border a single time, far away from the epicenter of the invasion," he said. "You don’t even call it a visit. She went to a place that has no problem, and was there for a very short period of time, so essentially she never visited the border as we know it."
