Border patrol agents say there will be an 'exodus' if Kamala Harris wins

Border patrol agents are threatening to leave the agency if current Vice President Kamala Harris wins the presidency in November after her time as the "border czar" of the Biden administration. 

"I’m not doing this sh*t again," one agent told the New York Post. "Four more years of hell." The agent is not near the age of retirement. He said that he is "absolutely sure" he would leave if Harris wins in November.

Another agent told the outlet, "Lots of guys who can retire will go. If Trump wins, they’ll stay." The agent added that he believes those agents who are more experienced, with upwards of a decade of time or more on the job, will use their skills to get other jobs. "We will have another exodus just because we will have a bunch of 20-year agents saying peace out," said another agent.

A report from May revealed that since 2020, US Customs and Border Protection has lost nearly a quarter of its agents. Between October 2020 and April 2024, 4,281 agents left the agency, which includes those who quit, were forced to retire, or retired early.

Also on the rise is suicide rates among CBP agents. In 2022, 15 suicides were reported among the CBP’s agents. The surge in suicides prompted the agency to hire a suicidologist to combat it.

"Under this administration, they’ve done everything they could to make our job as inefficient as possible. They can’t outwardly tell us not to do our job, but when you’re watching criminals come in and get released it sucks," said one of the agents. The number of illegal immigrant encounters across the country under the Biden-Harris administration has reportedly surpassed 10 million.
