Fox News reporter Bill Melugin joined Boston ICE agents for an operation that resulted in the takedown of four illegal immigrants accused of child rape and the arrest of a violent MS-13 gang member.

Melugin reported on X that ICE agents informed him that local jurisdictions had denied the agency's detainer requests on all of the arrested illegal immigrants due to the state of Massachusetts's sanctuary policies.

All of the arrests were made in one single morning, said Melugin.

The Fox News reporter wrote on X that ICE told him the that state's sanctuary policies "allow illegal aliens charged or convicted with heinous crimes to roam the streets after release without any notice, and make their job more dangerous because they have to find & arrest aliens charged or convicted with aggravated felonies on the streets, instead of having them handed over in a safe environment like a jail."

Todd Lyons, ICE field office director for Boston, called the state's sanctuary policies "frustrating," but applauded his team's successful effort to get illegal immigrant criminals taken off the streets.

"That's every day up here in Boston," Lyons told Melugin. "Those are the public safety threats we really want to get off the street. It was a great day, great day for the team. Five public safety threats that can't victimize anyone anymore."

Additionally, Lyons explained that low staffing levels within his department pose a challenge to public safety.

"I don't have enough officers or resources to tackle all these public safety threats," said Lyons. "Are we gonna go after the child rapist today, or are we gonna go after the twice-deported fentanyl dealer? Because we can't do both."

X owner Elon Musk weighed in on the report and wrote on X: "Boston won't arrest child rapists? What the hell is going on? When is enough enough?"

This comes as the Democrat-run state of Massachusetts has seen a massive increase in the arrival of illegal immigrants due to the historic crisis at the US southern border at the hands of President Biden's open-border policies.

Illegal immigrants have overwhelmed the state's emergency shelters and services, which resulted in Democrat Gov. Maura Healey implementing a $10.5 million taxpayer-funded plan to resettle illegal immigrants into apartment homes, a decision that has caused immense backlash among state residents.
