Los Angeles Times has reported that all the students, who are supposedly ages between 13 and 14, were taken to the hospital.
The LA Fire Department's Public Information Officer said the overdoses likely involved edible cannabis products.
"Today, we were made aware of a group of students who suffered a medical incident at Van Nuys Middle School," a spokesperson for the school district said in a statement. "In an abundance of caution, we requested medical assistance."
"As a point of clarification, Narcan was not administered based on a preliminary evaluation," the spokesperson confirmed. "Los Angeles Unified [school district] will proactively contact emergency services in an abundance of caution to protect the health and safety of our school communities. The campus remains safe and open for instruction."
