The Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) and Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC) mandated proof of vaccination for all staff and fans on Monday. Though OEG said, a negative COVID-19 test from fans would suffice.

TSN’s Jason Gregor said OEG continues to work on its COVID protocols for the upcoming NHL season and would make an announcement when it's finalized, reported CTV News. "We continue to engage with key stakeholders including the NHL, WHL, live entertainment promoters, our staff, fans, and Alberta Health on our venue fan policy," said the Oilers.

Gregor reported the Oilers would ask for proof of vaccination or a negative test within 48 to 72 hours of the game. He added that children under 12 would be exempt but have to attend with a fully vaccinated adult.

"I'm told the OEG has spent the past few weeks finalizing its plan so fans will have a clear understanding of what they will need to produce upon arrival at the arena," wrote Gregor.

Several NHL teams, including the Calgary Flames, made similar announcements Monday.

"In consulting with health officials and event partners, as well as feedback from our fans, today we are announcing that Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC) will be implementing a COVID-19 vaccination policy that will require all fans (eligible to receive the vaccine), event staff and employees to be fully vaccinated for attendance at live events at the Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium," wrote the organization to ticket holders on Monday.

The organization said the policy would take effect as of September 15, reported Global News.

"As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, we believe this policy to be essential in delivering a safe environment for our fans and staff as well as an important measure to help our communities and businesses to continue reopening safely," wrote the CSEC.

"We will monitor the situation and communicate required updates to ensure a safe environment for everyone visiting our facilities."

The organization said more information on the rollout of their policy would be released in the coming weeks.
