Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the NY state Senate Majority Leader and Chair of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, has just joined a long list of prominent NY Democrats asking Gov. Cuomo to step down.
"Breaking: @AndreaSCousins, one of the most powerful Democrats in New York, just now called on @NYGovCuomo to resign in the wake of mounting sexual harassment claims made against the three-term Democratic governor. Comes soon after Cuomo said 'no way' he'd resign."
The thread continues with "Statement released by NY Senate Majority Leader:" and a screenshot of the following:
"Everyday there is another account that is drawing away from the business of government. We ahve allegations about sexual arassment, a toxic work environment, the loss of credibility surrounding the Covid-19 nursing home data and questions about the construction of a major infrastructure project."
"New York is still in the midst of this pandemic and is still facing the societal, health and economic impacts of it. We need to govern without daily distraction. For the good of the state Governor Cuomo must resign."
Cuomo on Sunday held a press conference where he said he absolutely refused to resign, but pressure is mounting against the NY State governor.
Five separate women have now formally accused Cuomo of sexually inappropriate behavior in a professional setting, four of them being his former aides.
There is also mounting evidence of wrongdoing in the case of the increasingly public COVID nursing home scandal, where it appears that the statistics on the amount of deaths that occurred was lowered on purpose.
