Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake issued a statement on Sunday calling out the media for being "the Enemy of the People. And frankly — the right hand of the Devil," for their hit piece on her daughter who works for Turning Point USA.
"The AZ Media is disgusting. They wrote a hit piece against Kari’s daughter for working at Turning Point USA, a Non-Profit. What the hell needs to happen to make them report on Joe Biden’s son?" a statement from Lake's office read in part.
Much of the media's initial attacks centered around Lake's criticism of the growing phenomenon of drag queens performing for children. Lake, a former local Fox News anchor, has been consistent in her message that she "is very much opposed to grown men or women dancing provocatively for children."
In a piece for AZ Central, an Arizona drag queen with the stage name Barbra Seville accused Lake of hypocrisy because he claims to have performed in drag for her at her home and for her daughter. The same daughter that's now been the subject of hit pieces.
Kari Lake dove into the accusations head on, addressing the the drag queen, whose real name is Richard Stevens, by admitting that they were once friends after covering him in her TV career.
Lake said in her statement that she's serving Stevens with defamation but stressed the duplicitous role the mainstream media had in creating a feedback loop.
"Kari Lake is serving Mr. Stevens a defamatory lawsuit and is more than happy to do the same to media outlets that report these lies as truth. This New Republican Party fights back," the statement read.
"Like clockwork, the Fake Media will latch onto any story, regardless of its validity" and called the Arizona media "disgusting" for targeting her daughter.
The statement concluded by warning, "we encourage these outlets to remember what happened in the Nick Sandmann case and think twice about defaming Kari Lake," referring to the numerous defamation suits settled by former Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann.
"Mrs. Lake’s daughter started as an intern and was exceptional in her duties, so much so that TPUSA offered her a full time position on its media team. She represents the best of her generation and TPUSA is grateful that she’s a part of our growing team. It’s clear after spending a few minutes with her that she was raised right," TPUSA spox Andrew Kolvet told The Post Millennial. This is a breaking story and will be updated.
