UPDATE: Baste Records' "Fighter" by Jon Kahn is now the top song on iTunes overall.

Baste Records artist Jon Kahn, a singer based in Los Angeles, released a new single called "Fighter," which is tribute to former President Donald Trump after surviving two assassination attempts. In mere hours, it has skyrocketed to the top of the iTunes charts, including #3 overall and #1 in the Pop category at the time of publication.

The song also trended on X, amassing close to a million views in multiple posts in under one day.

According to the press release, the song, co-written with Nashville hitmaker Chris Wallin and released by Baste Records, is accompanied by a music video filled with inspirational Trump imagery. The video presents a symbolic audio and visual character study of the former President and 2024 GOP candidate, showcasing both strength and love.

"Fighter" is the first song written by Kahn and Wallin.

"Working with Jon brought me back to the days when artists wrote and recorded songs that they not only loved but songs that represented what they believed as a person," Wallin said about the experience. "Speaking for others through music is what true artists do. And that is what Jon is."

"I've been in quite a few Nashville writers' rooms and this first write with Chris was truly effortless in that we were totally in sync as to what we wanted the song to be," Kahn said. "It needed to be not only heroic, but human. Chris is a total pro and craftsman. I'm truly grateful for this collaboration on what we both feel is an important song."

The song pays tribute to Trump's strength and the fight of his supporters, and includes lyrics such as "I got bruises and broken bones, but they don't know, I ain't in this ring alone" and "I hit harder when I'm tired."

The label is home to Billboard-charting songs such as Afroman's "Hunter Got High" and Rachel Holt's "I Was Gonna Be."

Founded in 2022, Baste Records is now leading Nashville's conservative counterculture music scene. The label is recognized for promoting patriotic artists who champion traditional American values.
