The pro-life country song "I Was Gonna Be," written by renowned songwriter Chris Wallin and performed by 18-year-old country artist Rachel Holt, has made its way into the top 5 on the iTunes Country Charts.

The song's rise follows appearances by both Holt and Wallin on TimCast, where they performed the song live on air. Baste Records, which helped produce the song, "Hunter Got High" produced the pro-life song for release.

During her appearance on Timcast, Holt told TPM editor-in-chief Libby Emmons about the vitriol that she has gotten from people in her hometown after the song was released. Emmons inquired about the hate she has gotten over the song in reference to a conversation they had before going live on Timcast.

Holt responded, “Some of the worst things, like ... ‘We shouldn’t care what she thinks.’ Just like people that you wouldn't suspect to say such things. Like, they can have their own opinion but the second that I do it’s terrible.”

In an interview with Breitbart News, Wallin expressed his surprise and gratitude for the song's success.

"I’m just humbled honestly. When I first started writing this song I didn’t think anyone would ever actually sing it. I wrote it because I thought something had to be said," Wallin said.

"I Was Gonna Be" is written from the perspective of an unborn baby and was released on major streaming platforms coinciding with National Celebrate Life Weekend. Wallin, who has penned hit songs for country stars like Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, and Garth Brooks, initially wrote "I Was Gonna Be" for himself, doubting anyone would "have the courage" to sing it. That changed when he met Rachel Holt, who immediately embraced the song and insisted on performing it.

Following the song’s release, it became a big hit and reached as high as #9 on the iTunes Charts for country songs.

“With the help of patriot organizations like Breitbart, Timcast IRL, and Patriot Mobile we are currently sitting at #9 on the iTunes Charts,” Wallin explained to Breitbart. “Thank you for actually standing behind your values with actions. It’s rare these days.”
