"President Biden has made it very clear he will be debating Donald Trump."
Speaking on MSNBC, Adrienne Elrod said Biden is out there "delivering on promises" while Trump has been "sitting in a courtroom all week."
Elrod leaned into what she said was the contrast between the two men, believing that it favors Biden. "The contrast could not be more clear," she said. Biden is down in polling in key swing states as Americans compare the records of Trump's presidency against Biden's efforts and many believe that Trump is better suited to handle immigration, the economy, and foreign affairs.
"When you have Donald Trump's own words, it's also important to keep in mind that we will be continuing to use a paid media strategy here that uses his own words against him. There's no better way to articulate what Donald Trump would do in a second term as president than using his own words and those words are divisive, they're dangerous, and they would have devastating consequences on the American people.
"So you will, of course, continue to see Joe Biden making that contrast. But it's very important to keep in mind that we are laying the infrastructure that Donald Trump's campaign is not so we can make sure that when we do make that contrast, millions of Americans understand where we're coming from and again, what's at stake in this election."
Trump has challenged Biden to a debate repeatedly, and while Biden finally said that he would take Trump up on that challege, during a bizarre interview with shock jock Howard Stern, who like Biden barely left his home—if at all—during Covid, he has not indicated when that will be.
The debate schedule as it stands now has the first debate after early voting has already begun, meaning that Americans will have to vote without seeing the two men in a head to head match up.
After Biden confirmed that he would go ahead with a debate, Trump said "ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!"
"It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People. Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump said.
