"President Clinton was discharged earlier today after being treated for the flu."
After being admitted to the hospital with a fever on Monday then being released on Tuesday, Angel Urena, the deputy chief of staff for the former president wrote on X, "President Clinton was discharged earlier today after being treated for the flu."
“He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received. He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all,” Urena added.
On Monday, Clinton was hospitalized at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Urena, when Clinton was admitted, said that the former president was in “good spirits" despite being admitted with a fever. Clinton's health, much like other older politicians, has come under the spotlight in recent years. He was also hospitalized in 2021 when he had an infection spread to his bloodstream, per the Daily Mail.
He had to have quadruple bypass heart surgery in 2004 and had an additional operation six years after on an artery. In recent months, he helped to campaign for Kamala Harris in her failed presidential run and has promoted his new book, "Citizen."
Earlier this month, he as highlighted in the news when he commented on the possibility of Biden giving Hillary Clinton a preemptive pardon to Hillary Clinton before Trump takes office.
“I don't think I should be giving public advice on the pardon power. I think it's too — it's a very personal thing,” he said at the time when asked about his wife getting a pardon from Biden. During his last few weeks in office, Biden has made sweeping clemency decisions, with perhaps the most controversial being a complete pardon for his son Hunter Biden going back to 2014 for any crime or possible crime he committed.
