Country singer Toby Keith passed away on Monday night at the age of 62 after battling stomach cancer, according to a message shared on his social media.

"Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time," the message stated.

The singer is survived by his spouse, Tricia Lucas, as well as their three children.

During an interview with News9 last month, Keith opened up about the battle with the illness. “Cancer is a roller coaster, so it's like, you just sit here and wait on it to go away, and it may not ever go away,” Keith said. “If it goes into remission, it will still be in the back of your mind.” He was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021.

The cancer led Keith to rely more heavily on his faith.

“You take it for granted on the days that things are good, and you lean on it when days are bad,” the singer stated. “It has taught me to lean on a little more every day.”

The singer said at the time, with all the treatment he was going through, he eventually "got to the point where [he] was comfortable with whatever happened."

Keith was known for several country hits such as "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" as well as "Red Solo Cup."

After his passing took place, many users on X began posting clips of his old performances and music videos.
