BREAKING: DHS pulls $59 million FEMA payment to NYC luxury hotels to house illegal immigrants

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has recovered the full $59 million payment that FEMA allocated to New York City for housing migrants in luxury hotels.

In a statement to Fox News, a DHS spokesperson confirmed the move, explaining, “Secretary Noem has clawed back the full payment that FEMA deep state activists unilaterally gave to NYC migrant hotels. There will not be a single penny spent that goes against the interest and safety of the American people."

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the announcement in a post on X, adding, “FEMA was funding the Roosevelt Hotel that serves as a Tren de Aragua base of operations & was used to house Laken Riley’s killer. There will not be a single penny spent that goes against the interest and safety of the American people.”

The recovery of the funds follows a report from Elon Musk’s DOGE team, which revealed on Monday that FEMA had sent the $59 million payment last week to cover migrant housing in upscale New York City hotels.

“The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants,” Musk posted on Monday. “Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order. That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals! A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds."

Following this report, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem fired four officials at FEMA. The firings included FEMA CFO Mary Comans.
