The lawyer said she continues "to monitor every statement that Donald Trump makes about our client.”
According to a report from the New York Times, Roberta A. Kaplan, the lawyer for Carroll, is considering the idea again.
“The statute of limitations for defamation in most jurisdictions is between one and three years," she said. “As we said after the last jury verdict, we continue to monitor every statement that Donald Trump makes about our client.”
The statement from Kaplan was in response to a comment made by Trump in an interview on CNBC on Monday morning where he said Carroll had made a “false accusation” against him. The former president added that he will win on the appeal.
“I have no idea who she is, except one thing, I got sued,” Trump said during the interview. “From that point on I said, ‘Wow, that’s crazy, what this is.’”
“I got charged, I was given a false accusation and had to post a $91 million bond on a false accusation,” Trump added.
Before the suggestion of another lawsuit, Trump put up over $90 million on bond in order to appeal the previous defamation case.
Carroll alleged in a 2019 magazine article that the former president had raped her but could not recall many details about the incident.
During the civil trial's cross-examination, Carroll could not remember the date or exact year the event happened but believed it occurred on a Thursday. “I wish we could give you a date," she said the cross-examiner at the time of the civil case in 2023.
She also could not remember if there were any other people present at the store where she alleged the rape took place.
