Authorities responded to a situation on Monday at Trump Tower in New York City, where police took a 30-year-old person into custody after there were reports that a disorderly person was on top of an “elevated surface” in the building, the Associated Press reported.

The individual’s motive was not immediately clear. Reporting from Oliya Scootercaster described the suspect as an “emotionally disturbed person," who had attmpted to get access the roof but was stopped by authorities.

Authorities with the NYPD as well as other law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene at around 4:30 and then took the person into custody without incident. Authorities were wearing helmets as teams specializing in high-risk rescue situations secured the scene.

It was not immediately clear if the person involved would be facing criminal charges or prosecution and police started investigating to find out more. During the incident, a hostage negotiation team was called to the scene, according to Scootercaster. The person involved was stopped on the fifth floor.

This isn’t the first time Trump properties have become the subject of controversy. In March, left-wing activists stormed Trump Tower in New York City over the ICE arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, chanting slogans and holding signs in support of Palestine. Months earlier, in November 2024, anti-Israel demonstrators protested Donald Trump’s election outside Trump Tower Chicago. That event was led by a group linked to convicted PFLP terrorist Rasmea Odeh.

Someone also attempted to climb Trump Tower in 2016 and was able to get to the 21st floor before being stopped by the police, who dragged him into the building.
