Nathan Wade, the lead prosecutor in the George 2020 election case against Trump, has been revealed to have bought at least two plane tickets in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ name, who allegedly had a romantic relationship with Wade
Bank statements included in a filing by Wade’s wife, Jocelyn Wade, revealed that Wade purchased plane tickets to Miami and San Francisco under Willis’ name.
One pair of plane tickets, one naming Wade and the other Willis, were purchased through Delta Airlines on April 25, 2023 by Wade with the destination of San Francisco. Each ticket cost $817.
Another set of plane tickets was bought on October 4, 2022 with one ticket for Wade and another for Willis, with a destination of Miami. Each ticket cost $477. Two tickets were also bought the same day for a Royal Caribbean cruise, but is unclear who the recipients were.
According to 11 Alive, the filing came in response to one made by Willis on Thursday seeking to avoid testifying in the Wades’ divorce proceedings.
"Defendant seeks to depose Ms. Willis in order to determine details surrounding her romantic affair with Plaintiff, as there appears to be no reasonable explanation for their travels apart from a romantic relationship," wrote Joycelyn Wade’s attorneys.
On Thursday, the judge overseeing Donald Trump's Georgia 2020 election trial scheduled a hearing for February 15 to hear evidence regarding allegations that Willis hired romantic partner Wade to prosecute Trump.
The alleged impropriety was first brought to light in a court filing by Trump co-defendant Michael Roman, who argued that if true, Willis' conduct could potentially warrant a dismissal of the charges against him and disqualification of the entire DA's office from future prosecution of the case.
Roman's lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, claimed in the filing that Willis and the prosecutor in question, Nathan Wade, "have been engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case, which has resulted in the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers."
