On Wednesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took to the floor in the House of Representatives to force a vote on her motion to vacate GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson. The House voted 359 to 43 to table the bill, with 7 voting present.

Greene filed the motion to vacate Johnson over a month ago and took to the floor to force a vote on the proposal. The majority of Democrats and Republicans voted to table the motion.

As she took to the floor on Wednesday, issues she listed as reasons for the attempt to take Johnson out of the position included Ukraine funding, spending by the government, as well as allowing for other bills backed by Democrats to move forward in the House.

The motion, originally brought by Greene, was also backed by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY).

During the floor speech, Greene spoke on how Johnson "failed to protect the Republican majority when he allowed multiple votes to remove another Republican from the House of Representatives."

Other touchpoints included not communicating with House Republicans on several votes as well as failing to stop others from occurring.

Concluding the speech, Greene read the motion, saying, "Now therefore be it resolved that the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives is hereby declared to be vacant."

The vote that followed stopped it from advancing, tabling and effectively killing the vacate motion. Out the 43 members that voted against the motion to table, 11 were Republicans and 32 were Democrats.
