BREAKING: Japan pledges $1 TRILLION investment in the US

After President Donald Trump met with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba for a meeting on Friday, the official pledged an investment of $1 trillion into the United States. Trump also announced that the US will start a joint venture with Japan surrounding oil and gas in Alaska.

Speaking through a translator, Ishiba announced, "With the inauguration of President Trump, the momentum for Japanese companies to invest in the United States is even stronger. Today, I conveyed my willingness to cooperate together to elevate Japan's investment in the United States to an unprecedented amount of $1 trillion."



He added that the US and Japan would be working togther on AI as well as other technologies. During the press conference, Trump also touted the amount of investment that has been pouring into the US. He addressed AI as well as the computer chip trade.

"I'm pleased to announce that Japan will soon begin importing historic new shipments of clean American liquefied natural gas in record numbers,” Trump added, saying that a joint venture between the countries regarding oil and natural gas will be taking place in Alaska.



Trump began the press conference by presenting Ishiba with a photo of both of them, and addressed the topic of trade between the United States and Japan. Trump spoke about how the relationship between Japan and the US will be stronger going into Trump's presidency.

The president also spoke about how the work with Japan to keep the country secure in the Indo-Pacific.

"The United States is totally committed to the security of Japan. We will extend the full strength of American deterrence capabilities and defense of our friend and ally, 100 percent. In the years to come, the prime minister, and I will be working closely together to maintain peace and security," Trump later added.

Trump also said that the two leaders "agreed to cooperate even more closely to combat the Chinese economic aggression" in the meeting on Friday. During the meeting, Ishiba also told Trump that Japanese car companies would also be investing in the US by placing car factories in the US.
