Kamala Harris spoke at the Ellipse in Washington, DC on Tuesday night, standing before the White House where she's spent the past three and a half years serving as vice president under Joe Biden. The message of the rally was to "turn the page on Trump," and this was repeated by those who spoke before Harris took the stage. Harris' first point was to lean into fears over January 6, 2021, and to blame Trump for the Capitol Riot on that day.

She claimed that Trump is "unstable, obsessed with revenge, consumed with grievance and out for unchecked power." She claimed that he "has spent a decade trying to keep the American people divided and afraid of each other."

As she spoke, far-left protesters attempted to shut down her speech. "From the river to the sea Palestine is almost free," they chanted as Harris spoke.

"Americans died as a result of that attack," she said, not mentioning that the only person who was killed that day was Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by Capitol Police officers. "140 law enforcement officers were injured because of that attack," she said as sirens blared in the background of crime-ridden Washington, DC.

She made wild claims about Trump, saying that he "intends to use the United States military against American citizens who simply disagree with him, people he calls 'the enemy from within.'" Harris lied repeatedly about Trump's positions. Her lies came so fast and furious it could be easy for listeners to let them wash past, to believe them. She claimed Trump has an "enemies list" and that he would go after his political opponents but that she would bring a "to-do list."

"Our biggest challenge," Harris said, "is to lower costs, costs that were rising even before the pandemic, and that are still too high." She didn't specify what these were or acknowledge that under her administration, gas prices, home prices, and grocery prices all skyrocketed. The situation with gas prices was so bad that the administration sought to deplete America's oil reserves in a desperate effort to lower costs.

No speech from Harris would be complete without reference to her "middle class" upbringing or the fact that her mother, a single, working mom, was able to purchase a home in the San Francisco Bay area when Harris was a teenager. As she discussed costs, she claimed that Trump would impose a sales tax nationwide, though his actual plan is to get other nations to have reciprocal trade and tariff deals with the US by imposing high tariffs on nations that have high tariffs on us. She claimed he would repeal Obamacare, which was also a claim made against him ahead of his first term in office—but he didn't do it then and has said he wouldn't do it now.

Harris promised to get rid of local zoning restrictions and "red tape" to make it easier for builders to build houses. This, along with her plan to give first-time homebuyers $25,000 in free money has been decried by economists as a recipe for even greater housing disasters.

She pressed her position on federally legalizing abortion, which could only be done through Congressional action or through packing the Supreme Court and forcing a case. "And when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom nationwide, as President of the United States, I will proudly sign it into law," she said.

She claimed Trump backs the Heritage Foundation's policy positions called Project 2025, a publication that Trump has repeatedly said he has no affiliation with. She claimed that Trump would pass a nationwide abortion ban, which he has repeatedly said he would oppose. She claimed that the border bill backed by Biden, proposed in June, would secure the border, but it would allow in nearly 2 million illegal immigrants every year.

She promised an "earned path to citizenship" for temporary farm workers and the American-born children of illegal immigrants, in other words, an amnesty. She repeated the "suckers and losers" hoax, which is a claim that Trump has disparaged US servicemen, which he did not. The claim has been widely debunked.

Harris promised to "strengthen America's global leadership," which would ensure the furtherance of more "forever wars."

"I offer a different path," she said, "and I ask for your vote. And here is my pledge to you. I pledge to seek common ground and common sense solutions to make your life better. I'm not looking to score political points, I am looking to make progress. I pledge to listen to experts, to those who will be impacted by the decisions I make, and to people who disagree with me. Unlike Donald Trump. I don't believe people who disagree with me are the enemy. He wants to put them in jail. I'll give them a seat at the table," she said.

Her administration, which she ran with her boss Joe Biden, routinely went after their political opponents, using the Department of Justice to imprison those who support former President Donald Trump. Yet repeatedly, Harris has said that Trump would prosecute his political opponents.

Harris claimed that Trump is a "wannabe dictator" and begged Americans to vote for her on Election Day one week from Tuesday.
