On Tuesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) filed a formal Ethics complaint against Rep Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) after the former House Speaker allegedly elbowed fellow GOP. Rep Tim Burchett (R-TN) in the back.

"It has come to my attention that this morning, November 14, 2023, following a meeting of the House Republican Conference, Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) assaulted Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) in the hallways of Capitol complex. This assault was witnessed by multiple people, including Claudia [Grisales] of NPR, who was interviewing Rep. Burchett at the time."

In a piece written by Grisales and fellow NPR reporter Lexie Schapitl, the pair said that McCarthy shoved past Burchett, one of the GOP members who voted to oust McCarthy, as he was speaking with Grisales.

Burchett stumbled forward and yelled after McCarthy, 'Why'd you elbow me in the back, Kevin?! Hey Kevin, you got any guts?!'" they wrote.

Burchett reportedly chased McCarthy down the hallway, calling him a "jerk," and when he caught up to him, said, "what kind of chicken mopve is that? You’re pathetic, man. You’re so pathetic."

McCarthy denied this claim to CNN, saying "I didn’t shove or elbow him, it's a tight hallway."

Burchett said there "was plenty of room."

"For his part, Rep. Burchett has described the attack as a 'sucker punch' and 'a clean shot to the kidney.'" Gaetz wrote. "Needless to say, this incident deserves immediate and swift investigation by the Ethics Committee. This Congress has seen a substantial increase in breaches of decorum unlike anything we have seen since the pre-Civil War era."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

Gaetz seems to be such a small little man. I'm embarrassed for him.
