MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell may be entering the Minnesota governor race, with the Mike Lindell for Governor committee being registered with the state’s Campaign Finance Board on Wednesday.
Lindell told the Star Tribune that while the decision "isn’t 100% yet," he will announce his decision either way in a news conference on December 11.
In October, Lindell told the Star Tribune that he had polled hypothetical races against current Dem Minnesota Governor and failed vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, as well as other Republicans running in the race, saying, "if there was someone to win, it would be me."
Other GOP candidates include 2022 nominee Scott Jensen, Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth, state REp Kristin Robbins, attorney Chris Madel, and businessman Kendall Qualls. While most candidates in the race have welcomed a potential Trump endorsement, Lindell, a close ally to the president, could dash those hopes.
Minnesota DFL chair Richard Carlbom said in a statement on Wednesday that Lindell "represents exactly what today’s Republican Party has become: conspiratorial, extremist, and weird." He added, "He’s an out-of-touch salesman running to turn Minnesota into his next failed business."
Lindell said back in April that he was considering a gubernatorial run in the state. "I live here in Minnesota, everywhere I go, nobody wants Tim Walz. They don’t. Even if you’re a Democrat, you think he’s a good Democrat governor? They don’t even like him for what he did these nonsensical things he did."
