Nick Reiner has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of his parents, director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner. The Reiners were found dead in their West LA home on December 14.

In a hearing before Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Theresa McGonigle, Nick Reiner’s public defender, Kimberly Green, entered the not guilty plea. Reiner only spoke to acknowledge April 29 as his next court date, per Deadline. He was not granted bail.

Reiner was arrested just hours after his parents’ bodies were discovered by their 28-year-old daughter, Romy, and a friend. He has long battled addiction and mental health issues. The LA County Medical Examiner said that Rob and Michele Reiner died from "multiple sharp force injuries."

Reiner had been staying in a guesthouse of his parents’ Brentwood property for several weeks leading up to the murders. The night before they were found murdered, Rob and Michele Reinter attended Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party with their son, Nick, where a loud argument reportedly broke out between the father and son.

In the wake of their death, Michelle Obama said that she and former President Barack Obama had been set to see them on Sunday evening, just hours after they were found dead.
