North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) endorsed former President Donald Trump on Sunday, ahead of Monday's Iowa caucuses

During a campaign stop in Indianola, Iowa, Burgum said, "Four years ago I was speaking on behalf of President Trump at the Iowa caucuses in Sioux City, and today I am here to do something that none of the presidential primary candidates have done."

"And that is endorse Donald J. Trump for the President of the United States of America," he added.

In a post on X, Burgum said, "America needs a 180-degree change in direction from where Joe Biden has taken us!" He said, "Donald J. Trump will make America great again!

"Under President Trump America was safe and prosperous," Burgum said in his speech. "Tomorrow when you caucus, you have an opportunity to send a message to the nation, and send a message to the world that Donald J. Trump will make America great again."

In the last poll before Monday's Iowa caucuses, former President Trump held a commanding lead over his GOP presidential primary challengers. The NBC Poll showed NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll showed that the former president had the support of 48 percent of those polled while former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley sits at 20 percent of the vote, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis received 16 percent.
