In the final poll before Monday's Iowa caucuses, former President Donald Trump holds a commanding 28-point lead on his next closest challenger in the GOP presidential Primary.

According to the NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll of 705 likely Republican caucusgoers between Jan. 7-12, the former president has the support of 48 percent. His closest challenger, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley sits at 20 percent of the vote.

In the battle for third place, the Florida Governor polled within the polls 3.7 margin of error with 16 percent of the vote.

Former President Trump also has the most enthusiastic supporters of the top three candidates with 49 percent who choose him as their first choice being "extremely enthusiastic" to vote for him. 23 percent of DeSantis supporters and only 9 percent of Haley supporters say the same.

Of those polled, 82 percent of those supporting Trump say their mind is made up going into Monday's caucuses, while 35 and 37 percent of DeSantis and Haley Supporters say they could still be persuaded to switch candidates.

Former President Trump has maintained a massive lead in Iowa since the same poll showed him at 42 percent support in August. Governor DeSantis has flipped between 16 and 19 percent in the state while former Governor Haley increased her support by 14 points from the 6 percent she was polling at in August.

Earlier this week, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie dropped out of the race, and was caught on a hot mic saying that Nikki Haley is "gonna get smoked." He said, "We couldn't have been any clearer. We couldn't have been any more direct or worked any harder."

"She's on TV, spent $68 million so far, $59 million by DeSantis, and we've spent $12 [million]," Christie noted. "Who's punching above their weight? Who's getting a return on their investment?"

He also could be heard claiming that Florida Governor DeSantis called him "petrified" before the feed cut off.
