Bionca Ellis, 33, was sentenced Monday to life in prison without parole, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities said Ellis stole two knives from a nearby thrift store before walking into a Giant Eagle in North Olmsted on June 3, 2024. After leaving the store, she followed Margot Wood and her 3-year-old son Julian, attacking them in the parking lot. Julian was stabbed while sitting in a shopping cart and later died from his injuries. His mother was also injured but survived.
Earlier this month, a jury found Ellis guilty of aggravated murder, attempted murder, murder, felonious assault, child endangerment, and misdemeanor theft.
During last year's hearing, prior to the judge announcing Ellis' $5 million bond, Julian's father took the stand and said "That day, one week ago, she took everything from us. There’s nothing that could ever replace my son or anything that my wife and I, even our other kids, are going through. It’s horrendous. I really wish no bail. Period. Or extend it to the maximum limit possible that you can, at the very least. Just do whatever you can to keep this monster behind bars.”
Ellis was charged with one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of felony assault, one count of endangering a child, one count of tampering with evidence, and one count of misdemeanor theft.
On Monday, June 3, 2024 police received a call about the stabbing of 3-year-old Julian and his mother, 38-year-old Margot Wood, in the parking lot of a store after they got groceries. Julian had been stabbed in the face. Ellis was found by the police a short distance away still holding the knife.
A GoFundMe to raise money for Julian's family was created to raise money for Julian's family. It raised over $250,000
Prosecutors said there was no known connection between Ellis and the victims. This is a breaking news story. Refresh for updates.
