"Okay, why don't you wear tennis shoes and dress shoes?" Bet-David asked.
Things got a bit awkward on the PBD Podcast after show host Patrick Bet-David confronted 2024 GOP candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over whether or not he is wearing hidden high heels inside his cowboy boots.
Bet-David later gifted DeSantis a pair of shoes and urged him to wear them after bringing to controversy up, only to have him turn the present down.
"I'm sure your marketing team points out how they're trying to troll you in the market... I know you were on ... Bill Maher and Bill Maher talked about the boots," Bet-David said at the beginning of the exchange.
Bet-David was referencing an appearance by DeSantis on Real Time with Bill Maher, during which he wore a pair of boots that garnered massive attention both during and after the show. Clips suggesting DeSantis was secretly wearing heels in order to boost himself went viral on TikTok.
"I've seen you walk with these boots, go ahead and play this clip, this on TikTok went viral. It doesn't have a million views. It doesn't have, you know, 10 million views. This thing's got 1.2 million likes and some people are wondering..."
DeSantis cut Bet-David off, asking, "what are they, I don't even know, I haven't seen that."
"Okay, what they're trying to say with this is that in your boots, you have heels," responded Bet-David.
"No, no, no those are just standard off-the-rack Lucchese," answered DeSantis.
"How tall are you?" Bet-David asked.
DeSantis answered that he is 5' 11".
"Okay, why don't you wear tennis shoes and dress shoes?" Bet-David asked.
"I do wear tennis shoes when I work out," replied DeSantis.
It was at this moment when Bet-David off pulled out a gift for DeSantis, saying, "I'd love for you to wear." The present was from high-end shoe retailer Ferragamo.
DeSantis then said, "I don't accept gifts I can't accept it. I'm sorry."
Former President Donald Trump notably joined in on the fun earlier this month, sharing a meme about the DeSantis boot controversy on Truth Social.
