A Cessna C501 crashed into a lake outside Nashville, according to the FAA.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac told CNN that a small Cessna C501 crashed into a lake near Nashville on Saturday afternoon. It has not yet been reported how many people were on board or if there are any injuries.
Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Lt. Bill Miller said that a small plane has crash near Fate Sanders Boat Ramp in Tennessee. The crash site is about 30 miles (about 50 kilometers) southeast from Nashville. Fate Sanders is a large marina that exists among a large wetlands network.
According to WGNS Radio, the plane took off from Smyrna / Rutherford County Airport and crashed just after takeoff. The Cessna C501 is a small jet aircraft marketed towards private travelers and carries five passengers and two crew.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) are leading the investigation according to Miller.
Miller said there are several troopers and first responders on scene and an investigation is underway.
