Donald Trump responded on Saturday to the rejection by the Supreme Court of Jack Smith's petition for them to hear the motion that Trump should have presidential immunity in the J6 case against him. Trump's team filed the motion with the DC appellate court, and that court will hear the case on January 9.
Jack Smith wanted to expedite the case and petitioned the Supreme Court to hear it. Trump's attorneys, and 19 attorneys general, suggested that the court wait to hear the lower court ruling, which is typically how the Supreme Court operates.
"The Supreme Court has unanimously rejected Deranged Jack Smith’s 'SUPER SPEEDY' lawsuit against me," Trump said on Truth Social.
"This sick puppies team of Lowlifes and Radical Left Thugs could have brought this 'case' 3 years ago, and it would be long over by now. No, they waited until right in the middle of my very successful campaign for President.
"If I were polling poorly, like everyone else against me is (including Crooked Joe Biden!), or, for some reason, I decided not to run, they never would have even brought this ridiculous and disgraceful lawsuit. It is Election Interference like never before seen in our Country," Trump alleged.
He has stated repeatedly, as have many of his high profile supporters, that the Biden administration has intentionally weaponized the Justice Department against Trump and staged these cases against him with the express purpose of removing Trump from contention in the 2024 presidential election.
"In a certain way, it is real 'insurrection,' especially when adding the millions of people, from places unknown, that the worst President in the history of the United States is allowing to pour into our Country, totally unchecked and unvetted. This insane Open Border’s decision will prove to be a mistake for the ages, but I will fix it. MAGA!!!"
