The North Carolina Republican primary has been called for Donald Trump.

The former president was declared the winner by the Associated Press with just 3 percent of the vote in and less than an hour after polls closed at 7:30 pm local time.

With his victory in the Tar Heel state, Trump has gained 32 delegates and extended his lead over competitor, former United Nations Ambassador and South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who has only managed to win Washington, DC thus far.
