A federal judge on Thursday heard arguments on whether former Trump advisor and War Room host Steve Bannon should be forced to begin his four-month prison sentence after a higher court rejected his appeal. Bannon has been ordered to report to prison on July 1. Bannon was previously found guilty of contempt of Congress.

According to NBC News, A person shouted "Trump ’24!" As Bannon went through security to enter the courthouse. Bannon smiled and shook the man’s hand.

"I stand with Trump and the Constitution," Bannon said.

Bannon was sentenced in October 2022 to four months in prison for defying subpoenas from the J6 Committee. Bannon’s sentence had been placed on hold pending appeal. His lawyers made their case to a federal appeals court panel in November, which in May upheld Bannon’s conviction. Federal prosecutors filed a motion after the decision asking US District Judge Carl Nichols to order Bannon to report to prison, saying there’s "no legal basis" for his sentence to continue to be pushed off.

"Consequently, there is no longer a 'substantial question of law that is likely to result in a reversal or an order for a new trial,'" prosecutors wrote in their filing.

Bannon’s lawyers had argued that the serving of the sentence should continue to be paused until they appeal it to the full appeals court and the Supreme Court.
