Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the actions of the Myanmar military, calling the coup "unacceptable."

"The recent actions of the Myanmar military are unacceptable, and Canada strongly condemns them. We call for the immediate release of everyone who has been detained as part of this operation. The democratic process must be respected,"

Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Marc Garneau also condemned the actions in a statement released Monday morning, tweeting "Canada is deeply concerned by the Myanmar military’s recent actions, which jeopardize the peaceful process of democratic transition. We call on the Myanmar military to release all individuals who have been detained as part of this operation."

Myanmar's military seized power yesterday after detaining Aung San Suu Kyi and other democratically elected leaders.
