"Tucker was the reason to watch Fox News."
On Monday, news broke that Tucker Carlson and Fox News had parted ways, and that Carlson's show, which was often the top-rated show on cable news, frequently exceeding 4.5 million viewers per episode, had aired its final episode last Friday.
Detransitioner Oli London tweeted, "Tucker Carlson is an American Hero who through his tenure at Fox was able to break some of the biggest and most important stories. Tucker has been fearless in sharing the truth and never afraid to speak out against topics other networks wouldn’t cover. Sad to hear he has left Fox. It was a pleasure speaking to him last year."
Steve Bannon had said that "Tucker was the reason to watch Fox News."
"Wow. Disastrous moment for Fox News. Tucker was by far the most important and relevant figure at the network, and in all of cable news," wrote Matt Walsh.
On Twitter, Jack Posobiec tweeted, "Tucker out at Fox one day after Ray Epps goes on 60 Minutes Are you paying attention yet?"
"Fox news and Tucker Carlson 'agreed to part ways.' Wow," wrote podcaster Abby Libby.
Some, like the Middle-earth Mixer, posted statements of solidarity, with Billboard Chris saying he should run for president.
The statement from Fox read, "Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named."
The decision comes less than a week after the broadcaster and Dominion Voting Systems reached a $787 million settlement and weeks after a former booker at the show, Abby Grossberg, sued Fox, citing "vile sexist stereotypes" working for Carlson.
Ian Miles Cheong noted the move came a day after New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for Tucker's censorship.
Carlson's show premiered in November 2016.
