Two protesters climbed on top of the Empire State Building in New York City on Wednesday, where they unfurled a flag that stated, "When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace."

The two people were dressed in all black clothing as well as face coverings. The incident took place at around 12 pm on Wednesday.

The pair eventually climbed down from the spire at around 12:40 pm. After they climbed down, one of them appeared to propose to the other.

The two appeared to be taking pictures that could be posted to social media while they were on the top and after climbing down to get engaged. The man got down on one knee, appeared to propose to her, and then they embraced and the woman took off her mask to kiss the man.

Although she appeared to say yes, they may not have the immediate happy ending they are looking for, as they could face charges of trespass and reckless endangerment, according to CBS News, and the two are now in custody.

It is not the first time that people have scaled to the top of the Empire State Building in Manhattan. In 2023, singer Jared Leto climbed to the top to celebrate the kickoff of the 30 Seconds to Mars' 2024 world tour. At the time, he did so with permission to climb the structure. The spire reaches 1,454 feet in the air.
