The US Consulate in Toronto has been targeted with gunfire, but no injuries have been reported, according to local police. Police did not immediately have information related to the suspect in the case.

Deputy Chief Frank Barredo said of the shooting at the US consulate, "The Toronto Police Service considers this the most serious—the utmost serious—type of event, and we are actively pursuing its resolution." The shots were fired at around 5:30 am local time on Tuesday, according to police.

Although he was asked about the prospect of there being Iranian sleeper cells in Canada, he said that they did not have information regarding that. "I don't have any information to provide at this time on any sleeper cells that may or may not exist in Canada," Barredo added.

Barredo also talked about how the similar shootings have been taking place at synagogues in Toronto, with some of them being shot at in the early morning and overnight like the shooting at the consulate. "It is not lost on us that the city has unfortunately experienced similar types of events, extremely serious and very concerning shootings at synagogues," he said when reporters asked about the pattern.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said of the shots fired at the consulate, "The shots fired toward the United States Consulate in Toronto early this morning are a reprehensible act of violence and attempt at intimidation. I am relieved that no one was injured.   The RCMP and federal agencies will devote all needed resources to support the Toronto Police Service in their investigation, and to ensure that the perpetrators of these violent acts are identified and brought to the full weight of justice."

In a post to X, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said, "The shooting that took place at the U.S. consulate early this morning is an absolutely unacceptable act of violence and intimidation aimed at our American friends and neighbours. I’m glad to see that the Toronto Police are investigating and I expect that police at all levels will bring every resource to bear to find the people who did this."

As the shooting has taken place, supporters of the Iran regime have also been chanting outside the consulate, according to footage from Beth Baisch. Those gathered around the consulate have been chanting "death to America" as well as "death to Israel."
