UPDATE: At 4:35 pm PST, Judge Brenda Penny ruled in favour of Britney, ending Jamie's conservatorship.

According to Variety, LA Judge Brenda Penny ruled Jamie Spears will no longer serve as the conservator of his daughter’s estate.

Accountant John Zabel temporarily replaces Jamie Spears as conservator of her estate, assuming control of her financial decisions until the next steps are determined.

Britney Spears' conservator of her person, Jodi Montgomery, will still manage her day-to-day wellbeing and medical decisions.

Original story follows:

Many supporters of US-based pop star Britney Spears hope Wednesday's hearing officially ends her father's controversial conservatorship over her estate. The hearing was initially scheduled for next January but got moved ahead of schedule by several months.

The director behind a recent Britney Spears documentary shared the public seats for this trial were already filled as early as 6:30 am PST.

She shared a snapshot of the crowd of people waiting outside the Los Angeles courthouse. The #FreeBritney movement garnered and maintained public attention for several months.

The speculated outcomes for today's trial, as posited by TMZ, are while the judge can outright remove the conservatorship arrangement Wednesday, it will most likely be a gradual transition process instead.

Since last month's groundbreaking testimony, the pop star made it clear she wanted to terminate the conservatorship with her father. As Britney Spears shuffled her lawyers over the summer, being the first time she was allowed to hire her own, her father Jamie Spears agreed he'd step down last month voluntarily.

As for what the conservatorship was like, the new "Controlling Britney Spears" documentary put out by The New York Times adding more profound insight into the experience.

Alex Vlasov was a former employee on the security staff turned whistleblower, where he publicized the extensive communications monitoring regime enacted by Britney's father. Vlasov said it felt like Jamie imprisoned Britney.

Though it's unclear whether the claims surrounding the listening devices that spied on Britney's private life would come up during Wednesday's proceedings, Deadline says it's a situation likely to be investigated.
