Chris Cuomo slammed Democrats for being "out of touch" when they downplayed the July 13 assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Butler, PA. This, Cuomo said, is a key reason Democrat nominee for president Kamala Harris lost her bid for the White Housr.

Cuomo made the assertions on his Chris Cuomo Project podcast, saying that he was "satisfied" when Democrats were politically punished aftwr refusing to take the assassination attempt on Trump's life seriously. Trump was shot in the ear. A rally attendee, Corey Comperatore, was killed while shielding his wife and daughter from gunfire.

"What I found completely appalling and outrageous was how unimpressed lefties were by Trump getting shot in the head and how many of you would say, ‘Will you stop saying he got shot in the head? It just nicked his ear.’ Once again, to my earlier point: f*ck you. You get nicked in the ear by a bullet and tell me that it’s ‘No big deal. I’m good. I’m good.’ Nah, nah. That’s crazy."

Cuomo went onto say that if the assassination attempt had happened to Harris, Democrats would have been up in arms about it for days. "And then you go and call me a bigot for saying that. This is why you lost the election. That’s exactly why you lost the election. You are out of touch. You lost the plot about how people feel in the majority. That’s what you did, and that was a perfect example of it.”

On July 13, would-be assassin Thomas Mattew Crooks was able to shoot off several rounds at Trump from a building about 150 yards away, striking Trump's ear as well as killing Comperatore, and critically injuring James Copenhaver and David Dutch.

In the days that followed, multiple pundits, as well as FBI head Christopher Wray, suggested that Trump was merely hit by a piece of shrapnel or some glass from the teleprompter. MSNBC’s Joy Reid made these assertions repeatedly.

"That situation," Cuomo said. "‘Oh, I think it was just a teleprompter.’ You would have never assessed it that way if you didn’t wish the guy had died. How f*cked up is that? That you wished he had died? That you play down that he was shot at? It was disgusting. And I, for one, felt a measure of satisfaction that you were punished for it politically because there is no place for that.”

Cuomo also spoke out after the second assassination attempt on Trump's life when Ryan Routh is alleged to have lain in wait with a firearm to kill Trump. Left-wing pundits suggested Trump brought the violence upon himself. Cuomo said that he had called Trump to apologize and that he was "ashamed" of how the left was responding.
