According to WCTV, Florida’s so-called whistleblower Rebekah Jones is officially running for Congress. Now the media games begin.
As a Fox News report shows, CNN recently tried to give a shine to Rebekah Jones in her congressional race against Matt Gaetz.
Even though CNN’s Jake Tapper has to admit she was arrested in December 2020 and suspended from Twitter dot com (welcome to the club), the host did his best to bring out political baggage against Matt Gaetz to make Rebekah look somewhat presentable.
But on Twitter, even Tapper couldn’t put up with her. He called her "unreliable."
In light of the gains made by Governor Ron DeSantis in recent months, history will look at Rebekah Jones as a distraction.
The only claim to fame she has, are propped-up claims that Jones was pressured by DeSantis to alter Florida’s data for the sake of speeding up reopening the state last year.
But the National Review’s report from May 2021 obliterated any chance for heroics and demonstrated Rebekah Jones simply mismanaged her job duties while working for the state of Florida.
When DeSantis on Wednesday announced the lowest case rate for the continental United States, it was 9 per 100,000 people. At the time of writing, that matches the likes of Hawaii and was only bested by the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
It was a war of antibodies for DeSantis in what the press now says is a "reversal" of fate for Florida state. The Governor had to wrestle with the Biden administration over antibody treatments. After winning the war by securing Sotrovimab, Ron DeSantis still had to weather out the storm and wait while the likes of MSNBC snickered to themselves that Florida could fail.
The issue of vaccine mandates in the nation waited in the wings. But now Ron DeSantis is comfortably inviting first responders who abhor such restrictions a sanctuary to start over.
But to take things a step further, Florida’s government is working to ease the supply chain restrictions gridlocking the nation.
(With previous reporting by local outlets backing that up.)
As the Fox piece goes on to highlight, CNN’s Tom Foreman generously called her "complicated." I’d go a step further to say she doesn’t have a platform now that the battles won by DeSantis eclipse Rebekah Jones completely.
