Following repeated calls for answers regarding an alleged seven-hour gap in White House phone call switchboard logs on January 6, 2021, an official review has stated that the logs are in fact complete.

Sources familiar with former President Donald Trump's phone behavior and the White House switchboard records told CNN that the January 6 logs in fact reflect Trump’s usual phone habits.

They said that Trump usually placed calls through the switchboard when he was inside the residence, but barely did so while inside the Oval Office, where Trump was posted during the Capitol riot.

The sources added that Trump usually had staff place calls directly for him on landlines or cell phones, and that these calls would not have been noted on the switchboard log.

Calls should have also been documented in the Presidential Daily Diary, which is compiled by an Archives employee. A former Obama administration staffer told CNN though that these logs were more of an honor system depending on the aide working the detail.

The six pages of White House switchboard logs for January 6, 2021, have been deemed complete based on an official review of the records, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

Despite the complete logs, the January 6 Select Committee will seek to fill in any gaps left by using communications not linked to the switchboard by requesting other phone logs and records.

One phone call, in particular, that is missing from the switchboard logs is one Trump made to then-Vice President Mike Pence that morning from the Oval Office.
