"We will withdraw from the Primary as a Party and convert to a pure caucus system if this is allowed to stand."

On Tuesday, the Colorado Republican Party said it would cancel its presidential primary and instead hold a caucus if a decision from the Colorado Supreme Court banning former President Donald Trump from the state’s ballot is allowed to stand.

The Colorado GOP made the statement in response to Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy posting a video on X, formerly Twitter, stating that he pledged to withdraw from the Colorado GOP primary “unless Trump is also allowed to be on the state’s ballot,” and challenged the other Republican presidential candidates to do the same.

The Colorado GOP replied to the post,” You won't have to because we will withdraw from the Primary as a Party and convert to a pure caucus system if this is allowed to stand.”

The posts came hours after the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump could be removed from the Colorado 2024 ballot for the crime of insurrection, for which Trump has neither been charged nor convicted.

Ramaswamy said, “This is what an actual attack on democracy looks like in an un-American, unconstitutional, and unprecedented decision, a cabal of Democrat judges are barring Trump from the ballot in Colorado. Having tried every trick in the book to eliminate President Trump from running in this election, the bipartisan Establishment is now deploying a new tactic to bar him from ever holding office again: the 14th Amendment.”

Even well-known critics of the former president, such as former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is now running in the primary against Trump, slammed the ruling saying, “I do not believe Donald Trump should be prevented from being president of the United States by any court. I think he should be prevented from being the president of the United States by the voters of this country.”

Following the court’s decision, Trump pledged to appeal the 4-3 decision to the US Supreme Court.
